Rapper Wale debuts new Sacramento Kings song at home opener - The Mediahq
Chart-topping hip-hop star Wale has recorded a new Sacramento Kings-themed song that he will debut during the team's regular season opener on October 25.
The video for the song will also "be used as part of the team's intro video for selected games throughout the season," according to a news release from KIngs.
"We are delighted to welcome such an iconic rapper to be part of our opening night celebration," said Sacramento King's Business Operations Manager John Rinehart. "Wale has put together something very special to share with King's fans, and we can't wait to tip this anniversary season in a unique way."
The Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling rapper will perform at halftime, entertaining Kings fans with the hits "Home Coming," "On Chill [Ft. Jeremih]" and "No Hands."
But he will also be involved in some special pregame celebrations.
"As part of the opening night celebrations and Kings' ongoing youth engagement, Wale will host a pre-study session with over 50 local high school and college-age students from the Men's and Women's Leadership Academy, My Brother's Keeper, Sacramento Youth Speaks and Sacramento State University. During this session, Wale will discuss his background, lessons he has learned throughout his music career and will share words of wisdom before encouraging students to interact in a Q + A session, "according to a news release.
"I'm thrilled to be part of the Kings family and look forward to the show on October 25," says Wale. "It will be a great evening for the community and we will have a lot of fun with the new music"
